Evolve

This is a cute little animation that is seemingly a frame-by-frame design, illustrated in a very simple and pixel-style way that depicts the entire life of a girl/woman in the frame of a minute. I don't know what it is about that this animation that grabs my attention so much. Perhaps it's the simplicity of the design mixed with the technicality of life or maybe it's just the fact that life and death is portrayed so whimsically. Whatever it is this animation does the trick of teaching and quick lesson and expressing a manifesto: life is short.

Did you ever see the train tracks in VIA?

I've always fascinated by logo's that have secret images ever since I first saw the arrow in FedEx. This site has tons of logo's that didn't take the easy way out and really applied it's business and identity into its logo. For example I never noticed that the VIA Rail logo actually has train tracks in the middle of it outlined by the three letters. Logos to me are symbols of art that can represent an empire with one quick flash in vision, and when you want to take more time to analyze it it means that it's exceeded it's need.

KIT Knows

This is a short video that I consider design because of it's beautifully artistic cinematography and the fact that the video is based on an urban type of design. It's a short video that narrates an artist's love for graffiti and the street, expressed through poetry. This is one you have to watch for yourself to see how much talent it must've taken to shoot this. It's hard to fit so much of a message in one minute but it's achieved with ease in this video

Jonny Wan

Jonny Wan's style of illustration reminds me a lot of the candy skull type design with his various shapes and hierarchy. Regardless of it's origin it's a very cool style and was well applied when he joined up with Microsoft to create this mouse. Mouse design is an untapped market but will obviously grow as the technology world does - not necessarily design on mouses but all aesthetic design in general. This mouse takes a piece of technology and turns it into a work of art which I think is an innovation in itself; we have to use them every day anyways, why not spice them up a little.
